Hey all! You know what might be fun?
... Me neither.
BUT, because I like to make people think, how about a little contest type thingy? Winner gets... um... how about a drawing from me?
Righto, so, the puzzle is this.
When I make a character, there's nothing more I love than to give them a fancy name, especially if it has a certain meaning or origin. Most of my OCs I use here have such names. Can you figure out where my characters' names came from?
Not all of my characters have names with a purpose, but these guys do:
Aelius Florin Gatsby Bert Redgrove Starr Sutton Zosimos Carpathia
All of these guys' names came from something, or were named after thing. Do you know what? Some are a lot more difficult than others. First to guess at least 5 correctly wins ^ ^

Aelius Donatus was a great roman teacher of rhetoric.
A Florin is a monetary unit.
Gatsby is perhaps named after the titular character in the book The Great Gatsby, a rich and fanciful man.
Zosimos of Panoplis was a Gnostic mystic and an alchemist.
Carpathia is... The steamship that rescued the survivors of the Titanic wreck?
Redgrove after the British poet.

Florin; The symbol is reminiscent of the renaissance Italian money, if I'm not mistaken.
Gatsby: Self evident. If you haven't read this book, GO READ IT. I will wait for you.
Aelius: It's a Roman Name. Part of the basic Roman tradition of choosing a standard name. Or you could be referring to the ancient teacher of rhetoric.
Carpathia: Obviously Ghostbusters 2. Vgo, Scourge of Moldavia. Oooor it's the mountain ranges in Europe, or the Rhunethia region of Europe. Though Jazzy's makes the most sense. I'm sticking with Ghost Busters.
Zosimos: Well, he could be the Egyptian/ Greek Alchemist and Gnostic mystic, or he could be one of the many martyrs.
That's all I got.

Dang, I didn't give you all nearly enough credit. That, and/or I'm not as clever as I thought.
Jazzy got 4 out of 6. You're REALLLLY close though.
Grimme got 3 out of 5.
I'm being so picky and technical. ^.^

Oh, ruddy duh. Starr after Ringo Starr.
And also, if Carpathia is not the boat, it's a longshot but maybe from Nicolae Carpathia of the Left Behind series?
And DUUUUH, Zosimos the Hermit, third century Christian Ascetic.

No, but that was a REALLY good guess XD
Starr, Redgrove, and Sutton are the most difficult. I'll help out a bit by telling a bit about their character. (They're not up on here yet.) Starr and Redgrove are husband and wife, and have a passion for the occult that their retained from their human lives, mainly necromancy.
